As a Content Writer, one of my favorite parts of the creative process is to find kick-ass quotes. My goal is always to find citations that make you go like “Whoa, I am going to live by this credo, now!”

Unfortunately, many quotation libraries are terribly under-represented, when it comes to words spoken by women. Since some of my clients pay me hourly anyway, I decided to dedicate some extra time combing through the vast endlessness of the web to bring some Female Voices into my writing. Here are my favorite findings. Enjoy!

8 Kick-ass Quotes from Kick-ass Women

Let’s start with an on-point statement that made me laugh so hard, I spilled my Earl Grey!

“My father warned me about men and booze but he never said anything about women and cocaine.” ―Tallulah Bankhead

With or without cocaine, life as a kick-ass woman can be tiring sometimes. How to deal with the overwhelming existence that our time on earth comes with? Jada Pinkett Smith does it the right way:

“When I’m tired, I rest. I say, ‘I can’t be a superwoman today.’” ― Jada Pinkett Smith

Does the constant buzzing of the digital stream rushing through your life give you terrible headaches or existential crises? It is good to keep in mind that …

“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a while. Including you.“ — Anne Lamott

Unfortunately, you would need to turn off your phone for quite some time until Social Media has fixed its absurd beauty standards. Meanwhile, here are some wise words to enjoy whilst sharing that selfie, no matter what kind of a hair-day you’ve had today.

“Always remember the most important rule of beauty, which is: who cares?” — Tina Fey

I think we can all agree that the internalized criticism towards ourselves is painful and unnecessarily evil. So let us break the vicious circle for future generations!

“The way we talk to our children becomes their inner voice.” — Peggy O’Mara

Sure, we care about inner values and stuff. Be we still wanna look good at tonight's dinner party. Amelia Barr knows how to hit two birds with one stone:

“Kindness is always fashionable, and always welcome.” — Amelia Barr

However, today’s world seems to be dominated by hate and division. In this article, I explain why we need to be understanding even towards crazy-ass conspiracy theorists. So dare to be empathetic!

“I think we all have empathy. We may not have enough courage to display it.“ —Maya Angelou

Finally, I want to share one of my favorite quotes with you. For me, this is my personal recipe not only for happiness but sanity:

“It’s a funny thing about life, once you begin to take note of the things you are grateful for, you begin to lose sight of the things that you lack.”

― Germany Kent
